JOURNAL

Business Partners at Work

FEBRUARY 1, 2018

When organizing this trip, three students from the Rural Health Scholar group were selected to plan this trip. I was one of the three that was chosen. All three of us met to discuss what kinds of activities we wanted to be involved in and also to discuss the logistics of the trip.  We quickly found out that this trip was a lot more work than we thought it would be but at the same time the trip looked more and more promising the more we got things together.

By this point we had contacted the organizations that we wanted to visit.  The hard part was scheduling them because we didn't have very much down time or free time between activities.  I found that it was a lot harder than I thought to set up service projects.  Many organizations require all sorts of prerequisites and want months of notification before hand.  However, we were able to find plenty of places to serve.

After figuring out all of the details for the trip, we held a meeting for all of the people that signed up to attend.  During this meeting we discussed the trip itinerary, had everyone sign a consent form, and we answered any questions that the participants had.  For those involved that didn't live in Cedar City, we recorded the meeting and sent it to them over email.  After the meeting everyone was on the same page and knew the expectations of the trip.
